Laika and the Leviathan

After losing her village to a tsunami caused by the Leviathan, Laika sets out on a journey to find a magical opal, believing it could give her healing. She suffers from collapsing throughout the day due to a head injury she got when she was little.

Laika joins a ragtag group of storm hunters to help her navigate the sea. The group lives on a city atop a whale—a friendly fellow named Atlas—and rescue people after destructive storms. They want to end the Leviathan’s worldwide flood and make the world safe again, but that's easier said than done.

Laika has strange dreams of an ethereal mermaid who is the Leviathan’s caretaker, and soon every belief she has about the monster begins to unravel as she realizes he isn't much different than her, and maybe the magical opal isn’t what she truly needs.

Of Moss Monsters and Illness

Arely is the only girl with healing magic running through her veins. But she must keep it a secret from her kingdom, because they reject the belief in magic, saying it’s only a lie used to manipulate. A strange illness has swept the land, though.

The king tasks Arely and her apothecary mentor, Cassius, to find a remedy before it wipes out his kingdom. It seems to be caused by the Isola, the wall of ice mountains that is destroying their world. Arely is afraid to fail because her loved ones could die and she’d have no one to blame but herself.

She finds a tale that speaks of a remedy in the woods of the moss monsters, not far from the Isola. She and Cassius begin their journey, but these woods hold more secrets and memories than Arely thought, and perhaps even the true origin of her magic.
